Receipt detail view showing the red Delete button in the top-right corner
The Delete button appears in the top-right corner of every receipt detail page.

How deletion works

rct-keep uses soft deletion. When you delete a receipt it moves to Trash and disappears from your main receipt list, but all its data — including the original file, extracted details, notes, and history — is preserved. You can restore it at any time.

A receipt is only permanently deleted when you choose Delete forever from the Trash page. See Restore a deleted receipt.

Delete from the receipt detail page

  1. Open the receipt by clicking it in the receipts list.
  2. Click the red Delete button in the top-right action bar (next to Edit and History).
  3. Confirm the prompt — "Move this receipt to trash?". Click OK.
  4. The receipt is moved to Trash and you are returned to the receipts list.

Bulk delete from the receipts list

To delete multiple receipts at once:

  1. Go to Receipts and tick the checkboxes next to the receipts you want to delete.
  2. The bulk action bar appears at the top — click the red Delete button.
  3. Confirm the prompt. All selected receipts move to Trash.

What happens to deleted receipts

  • They are removed from the main receipts list and all search results.
  • They are excluded from Summary totals and exports.
  • They are excluded from duplicate detection.
  • They remain visible in Trash, where they can be restored or permanently deleted.
  • Their original files are retained until permanent deletion.
Permanent deletion is irreversible. Once you click Delete forever in Trash, the receipt and its original file are gone permanently. Restore the receipt first if you might need it later.
